It is important to understand the role of Parvati in Hinduism.
Parvati She is the Goddess of fertility, love, beauty and devotion. She is the wife of Shiva , one of the principal Hindu deities. As the mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya , embodies nurturing, caring and powerful maternal strength. However, Parvati is also associated with the fierce aspect of the divine feminine and is worshipped as Shakti or the dynamic energy of the universe.
In her various forms, Parvati can appear as the gentle and benevolent goddess, or as her fierce and warlike manifestations as Durga AND Kali . This complex duality of powerful aspects has made her an essential figure in Hindu mythology and worship.
In the pre-Angkor Baphuon period, Parvati was considered the embodiment of Shakti , the feminine power that complements and energizes the masculine force of Shiva. The union of Shiva and Parvati represented the harmonious balance between opposing forces — creation and destruction , asceticism and sensuality , and spiritual devotion and worldly life . For the Khmer, this balance was not only a theological concept but also a political and social symbol .
